Abstract

This research aims to explore and analyze the implementation of portfolio assessment techniques to asse’s the student progress in learning Islamic Cultural History (SKI) at MAN 2 Padangsidimpuan. This research uses a qualitative approach with a case study as the research design. Data was collected through classroom observations, interviews with teachers, and analysis of student’s portfolio documents. The research results show that the implementation of portfolio assessment techniques is effective to measure the students’ progress in SKI learning. This process are to encourage the students’ reflection, to facilitate students-centered learning, and to increase the students participation in learning process. This study has an important implication for SKI learning practices at MAN 2 Padangsidimpuan and other schools. Recommendations are provided to improve and strengthen the implementation of portfolio assessment techniques and it’s uses in evaluating the student’s progress.
